As today is April fools day, I guess the joke is on me as I have accepted a job in Alaska for the summer at the Mt. McKinley Wilderness Lodge. This will be the second time working in Alaska and this job comes with an indoor
toilet.. ;-)     ( http://www.princesslodges.com/mckinley_lodge.cfm)    I will be about 40 miles from the location of the Talkeetna Fish Camp where I worked in the summer of 2005 and was blessed with the Lime Green Outhouse.   I pretty much know what to expect but being in one place for 4 months may get a little tiring.

This past winter was spent doing handy man jobs and buying a new place to live..... yes, at some time in the future I will 'moving on down' to a 1 bedroom 1 bath condo with a carport instead of a garage. It will take a lot of thinning down of "things" (junk) to move from my current 1,200 sq ft to 780 sq ft. I will likely get rid of all my tools and hang up my tool belt and start a simpler phase of my life. It is only a couple of miles from where I live now.

I got out last week for 1 night of camping :-( and am really missing the long trips I have taken in past years. The weather just wasn't great this year and now the weather is perfect and I have too much work to get away. Since I leave shortly there will likely not be any more chances this spring to get away.

My Mother came for a weeks visit over New Year and we went to the Rose Parade on Jan.1 and did the touristy things here in Palm Springs. She had great weather and I think she really enjoyed her time in the Mojave.

The trip I had planned to Europe this spring is cancelled as my traveling buddy who works for Princess did not get his concession trip. Probably just as well since I will be gone most of the summer anyways......
