Hard to believe, the high temp today was only 98
our Norm is 104-108! So its been one of the mildest springs on record
here in the Mojave Desert. Just returned from a 4,516 mile
driving trip to Indiana. Had a great visit with Family there and got
to spent some very good quality time with my 80+ yr. old Mother. Made
another stop at Canyon De Chelly, AZ and spent several days hiking in
So. Colorado.
I stopped on my way home to hike in Southern
Colorado at Wolf Creek Canyon. Normally a winter ski area but very
very scenic with good trails. White water rafting was available but
way overpriced. Camped in National Forrest and I want to remind my
fellow Americans the Us Forrest Service is charging $14 a night for
primitive campsites! What a waste! I can get state parks for $8-$15
with Hot Showers that are actually clean. The National Forest System
was to provide camping/recreation for all Americans...Who can afford
it? But It was beautiful and I had nice cool nights and sunny
days

I have taken a long driving trip every year now
since 2002. (The longest to Inuvik, Northwest Territories,
250
miles North of the Artic Circle.) So my tired old 2004 Ford Ranger has
75,000 miles now. But on the trip to Marion Indiana from Palm Springs
I did my normal spreadsheet/journal that tracks my mileage, days
drive, and locations I camp at. I don't normally share these on the
WWW but thought some out there might enjoy looking at. [Clich

I am still doing Home Repairs to get through this
little economic setback. This Summer is slow but have had a few little
jobs. I am still looking for something more permanent but jobs are
scarce and when they discover I am a "mature" worker with a
long history of self-employment, I usually don't hear back.
Bought a new tent so hopefully I will get some
newer Pic's of me camping someplace so you can all see it. I had no travel plans for 2009 for obvious reasons. But
completed another cross country drive to visit Mother. (see above) I
had tried to buy a camper/motor-home to work as a campground host
later this summer, but no luck. Probably just as well since the State
is planning to raise the registration/license fees again. So I will do
my normal summer weekend runaways to camp in the mountains around
here.
