Summer 2008.....

Oh what a difference a couple of years makes. After
2 years of flying, cruising, and hiking all over the globe I have been
in south Florida for 3 months trying to sell a house down here. Has
been a very slow time and I miss the trips but with US dollar almost
worthless overseas maybe its a good thing to take a break. If you want
to see the house I am trying to sell go here: http://www.zillow.com/HomeDetails.htm?zprop=46746173
When I drove down here (Boynton Beach FL) from
California back in early March gas was about $3.20 a gallon. Now its
over $4.00! I know this is outrageous but doesn't really surprise me
since Gas in Europe has been double ours for years. So how do I get
home?? you ask?? Well I have to drive and its exactly 2,494 miles from
Palm Springs to here. Sooooo.. I get 32 mpg with my little Ford Ranger
4 cylinder stick shift and used about 80 gallons to get here so that's
only an extra $64 for the gas to get home...... still less than the
fuel surcharge per ticket the airlines are charging right now.... :-)
I am going home via a winding route back through
Indiana to do some work for my Mother and then home to California.
Should take a couple of months and plan to visit a couple of National
Parks I missed on my previous driving trips cross country. If all goes
as planned I should be home just in time for the desert "summer
heat".... boy was that stupid scheduling!
